When I was a brand new mom for the first time, when my daughter was napping I’d sit and kiss her little fingers and watch her eyelashes grow and smell her sweet baby skin. I’d feel guilty for putting off chores, but I didn’t want to miss a minute of her baby-hood.
I was also a photo nut. I have at least 3-5 photos a day for every single day of her life from that whole first year. I’m proud of that, but after I found this fantastic photo blog by Adele Enersen, I was kicking myself for not being more creative during those naptimes.
As a new mom, Enersen who is also a talented artist was curious about what babies dream about. One day, while watching her baby rest, she began using her new baby’s naptime to imagine what the little girl might be dreaming about. Enerson has a remarkable imagination, and using blankets, pillows and other props, she devised these incredible scenes wherein her sleeping baby was the star in a new naptime adventure. She photographed her sleeping child during these amazing sleeping journeys and like scores of mommy-bloggers like her, she began posting the daily photos to a blog. However, as the child grew, so did the portfolio of images on blog, called Mila’s Daydreams. Word of this incredible new mom her creative baby photographs spread. Enersen quickly gained notoriety for her imaginative take on naptime.
Thankfully, some of these picture have been turned into the book, “When My Baby Dreams.” The images of the snoozing infant snug in her dream-inspired fantasyland are pure creativity unleashed. Kids will love looking at pictures of this baby visiting the moon, swimming under the sea, or flying overhead. The book makes a perfect transition to naptime story for restless youngsters. Caregivers will enjoy sharing the obvious love Enersen has for her daughter and the photos it inspired with their own kids.
