“Christmas at the Farm in the Forest” tells the story of a magical Christmas Eve night, when the farm animals and the woodland creatures gather together for a celebration. A special visitor has come to the farm bearing gifts for all to share. The simplicity of the story together with the life-like magic of the illustrations draw the reader and listener into an enchanting winter world. You will find characters you know from the first two “Farm in the Forest” books: “Follow Me to the Farm in the Forest,” and “Sunrise at the Farm in the Forest.” Pictures of the real life animals who are featured in the stories are included to bring the story even more alive in the reader’s mind. Following the story, there is a collection of fun Christmas cards picturing the animals who live on the farm as they have sent out Christmas greetings to friends through the years. As with the first two books, this is a ‘flip’ book —featuring a story from the front of the book and one from the back side of the book. The ‘flip’ story is “At the Farm in the Forest There Was…..” This is a story about two miniature horses, following them through their adventures in all seasons of the year, from the day they came into the world. Each pony is asked to do special jobs on the farm, but there is much fun to be had as the two enjoy playful pony days. Once again, the illustrations bring these minis to life, as you feel you can almost touch their furry coats, or give them a pat on the head. A good resource for teachers to use along with lessons of the seasons. Both stories are perfect for toddlers’ bedtime or beginning readers.
