Pete the Cat Picture Books Make Reading Groovy and Fun

In 2008, author and illustrator team Eric Litwin and James Dean self published Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes.  This fun and cool cat quickly warmed the hearts of readers and before long Pete the Cat was picked up by Harper Collins publishing company.  In a world seemingly flooded with picture books there was something special about Pete. Something made this fun loving even tempered cat stand out among the rest.

Shortly following the success of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes came additional titles, including Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes, Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons, Pete the Cat Saves ChristmasPete the Cat and His Magic Sunglassesand the newest addition, Pete the Cat and the New Guy.

In all of the stories the lovable blue cat entertains his audience with his laid back attitude and great songs.  Each book comes with a free downloadable song.  These catchy tunes are sure to have little ones singing and dancing along and parents humming nonchalantly while washing dishes after the kids are in bed.

Pete the Cat appeals to a wide age range and a diverse audience.  For the newest readers there is a large collection of Pete the Cat, I Can Read leveled readers.  These are sweet and entertaining stories, but do not include the same toe tapping songs as the main titles.  They are, however, still entertaining and little ones will gain a great sense of accomplishment reading them on their own.  There are also several short stories out that come complete with stickers catering to the artistic Pete fan.  For those that can’t get enough cool cat music Pete has added his own twist to some classic favorites with Pete the Cat: The Wheels on the Bus, Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Starand more.

For parents and caregivers looking to add some entertaining variety to their picture book collection, Pete the Cat is sure to be a welcome addition.  The stories will bring a smile to the faces of young and old alike, and Pete’s care free attitude in the face of small adversities is truly contagious.
